Panasonic is the oldest name in lithium-ion and Tesla's original cell partner, and its Energy segment is now a bet that North American manufacturing - subsidised, slow to build, and hard to copy - beats competing with China on price. Everything else in the group is a diversified Japanese industrial, which is why the Energy line has to be read on its own.
An LFP pack cost $81 per kWh in 2025. The nickel equivalent cost $128. That $47 gap explains most of what has happened to electric car prices, and to the league table of who builds the cells.
